Traditionally, in LASIK Operation, the corneal flap is created with the help of a knife called microkeratome. In the literature; It has been identified that most of the risks and complications of LASIK occur during this flap formation. Surgical techniques and surgical equipment have been modified and renovated to improve satisfaction with the results and reduce complications, but no innovation has revolutionized LASIK as much as the introduction of Intralase Femtosecond Laser.

IntraLase; uses infrared laser and Intralasik software to create corneal flaps at pre-programmed depth and position. A thin flap at the previously calculated depth in the patient’s cornea is formed using water bubbles and carbon dioxide. These bubbles provide a smooth surface between the corneal bed and the flap. Laser energy neither affects nor damages the structure of the cornea. There is no change or harm caused by the thin flap being formed. The laser spot of 3 microns allows the operation to be performed with an incredible degree of precision. The intralase pattern focuses the laser energy on the primary point and then back and forth on the cornea by moving in a zig zag motion. Finally, an incision from the cornea is created with the laser on the based location. This process takes approximately 1 minute for each eye.

Day Care Procedure

Our doctors' experiences for over 15 years has allowed us to streamline the process smoothly within the shortest time.

All the major eye treatment procedures are pre-planned to meet the convenience of patients from abroad who have time constraints.

A patient can fly to Istanbul in the morning and at the same day eye care check-up and necessary eye investigation can be initiated. If any surgical intervention is required then the next day blood tests and other necessary eye investigations will be performed.

Surgery is planned within a day or 2 after the arrival of patient to Istanbul. The patient can be discharged the same day globally, we call it as Lunch Hour Procedure.

All major eye treatments involve very minimum post operative care and patient can resume back to all their normal activity within 24 hours post surgery.

Keeping in mind International Standard treatments we assure that patients don't have to stay in Istanbul for more than 4 to 5 days including their pre and post surgery check-ups (some cases the period of treatment differs). Patients can travel back to their country after 2 days of surgery with final follow-up/check-up with the treating surgeon.
